Ohio Voters Set to Approve Constitutional Amendment Enshrining Abortion Rights and New Law Legalizing Marijuana

Tomorrow, voters in Ohio will be able to vote in the general election for local judicial, educational, municipal, and county officials, as well as select ballot initiatives to amend the Ohio State Constitution and state laws. 

New Data for Progress polling finds that Ohio voters are set to approve State Issue 1, a proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution that would establish a state constitutional right to access abortion, and State Issue 2, a proposed law that would allow adults over the age of 21 to purchase and possess recreational marijuana products.

On the issue of abortion, 57% of likely voters in Ohio say they support State Issue 1, while 40% oppose and 3% are undecided.

 
 

On the issue of marijuana legalization, 61% of likely voters in Ohio say they support State Issue 2, while 34% oppose and 6% are undecided.

 
 

Survey Methodology

From October 31 to November 2, 2023, Data for Progress conducted a survey of 582 likely 2023 voters in Ohio using SMS and web panel respondents. The sample was weighted to be representative of likely voters by age, gender, education, race, geography, and voting history. The survey was conducted in English. The margin of error is ±4 percentage points.
