Climate change is perhaps the greatest challenge our species has ever faced. But it also represents a unique opportunity to create good jobs — many of the union variety — for workers in the clean energy economy of the future. The coronavirus pandemic and recession have pushed millions out of work, showing that policies to transition our economy to a prosperous and sustainable future are needed now more than ever. As critics continue to claim that leaders and voters must choose between good jobs and a livable climate, our research shows they’re wrong — and that voters want a just transition to a clean economy. Our policy proposals show how lawmakers can make this popular vision a reality.
